Things to Do
The Monastery of Paleokastritsa in Corfu is one of the biggest attractions you must visit when you’re close to Paleokastritsa. The monastery lies on a green hill above the beach of Paleokastritsa, on the north-western side of Corfu. If you go there, you’ll see a large Monastery complex dedicated to Panagia (Virgin Mary) of Paleokastritsa. Its ideal location, right on top of a remote hill, provides everyone who visits with a gorgeous view of the island and the sea. The Byzantine Monastery was built in 1228. The current complex, the cells of the monks and the yard have only been built later in the 18th century. The monastery has a small ecclesiastical museum with rare Byzantine icons, holy books, and other relics. You can enjoy a wonderful scenic walk on your way to the monastery, as the road which leads to the monastery passes through a forest of olive trees and cypresses.
Swimming and diving go hand in hand. However, if you’re not an expert diver, you can take a course and have a certified instructor show you the ropes. You’ll be in safe hands with trained instructors who’ll be there with you every step of the way. The deeper you dive the more you’ll explore and stay amazed by all the stunning beauties Corfu’s sea world has to offer.
